Description
Our Rehab Base Plate was developed and extensively tested in close collaboration with over 20 experienced Goodsmith partners, consisting of farriers and hoof care specialists. The goal was to create a base that enables the treatment of a wide range of hoof diseases and problems.
Features:
- Increased strength and rigidity
- Centrally positioned, recessed bar
- Reinforced, recessed sole grid
- Rounded edges in all directions for optimal breakover
Compared to our standard plates, the Rehab Base Plate is significantly stiffer. The sole grid is partially recessed and additionally stabilised by a centrally placed bar, which is also slightly recessed but sits above the sole. The reinforced grid construction provides additional protection, particularly for patients with laminitis. The rounded underside facilitates turning and ensures a smooth breakover motion.

Is the rehab base plate the right choice for therapeutic use?
Yes, absolutely. Thanks to the rounded tread profile and the additional support, healthy hooves can also benefit from the rehab base plate.
Compared to the standard base plate, the rehab version is significantly more stable, but therefore also allows fewer natural hoof movements. Especially during the transition from shod to barefoot, the rehab base plate can offer a suitable intermediate step to slowly reaccustom the hoof to natural hoof movements.
Can the rehab plate be used in the hoof boot & glue-on horseshoe?
Yes! The rehab plate can be used with both the Klebebeschlag and the Hufschuh.
Can the rehab base plate be reused?
Yes, the base plate is typically reused for 2–3 shoeing periods.
