Synthetic Shoeing in Mud
My PRE has been living in an active stable in East Frisia for a year. In an area where peat is still harvested – so when it rains here, it becomes a really nasty mush ;) Because the area in front of the hay racks is paved and my little one doesn't lift his legs when turning away but rather pivots, I had to decide on hoof protection.
In the gluing course at LTZ (where I also completed my training as a hoof care professional), I got to know Duplo and RB Carbon tabs. Through an acquaintance, I then tried the AmyBoot. Unfortunately, neither system held – both the glued Duplo and the AmyBoot came off after 14 days at most.
Then I became aware of the Goodsmith synthetic shoe through Facebook and tested them on my PRE. Ta-daaa... 6 weeks on, despite extremely unfavorable wet weather. Since then, our Goodsmith gang at the stable has grown to 3 boys, and a Drum Horse would like to join again when summer trail riding starts :)
My PRE got the glue-on shoe on the front – without any problems. On the contrary, much easier adjustment than the Duplo with metal core, because I can simply grind away whatever is too much without hesitation.

My horse is ridden in the arena and on trails – he moves really great. Pebbles, grass grids or gravel are no longer a problem for him. When the plates are off, you can immediately tell that he walks "more carefully." Not footsore, but so noticeably more cautiously that my riding instructor noticed it right away.
I am thrilled and will definitely continue to use the Goodsmith as my main choice. Not only because here in East Frisia, in "Mud Country," I achieve the best grip with them. The application is super easy and I don't have to carry around incredibly many plates in my car like with other providers.
