About us
Healthy movement begins at the hoof.
We have been developing hoof protection that enables exactly this for more than a decade.
With a conviction that has not changed: hoof protection must preserve the natural function of the hoof - and that is what we measure everything we do against.
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
We develop hoof protection that works with the hoof – not against it.
The hoof does something most people don't notice: it moves.
Under load it expands, passes on shocks, pumps blood back into the body. It is not a rigid foundation but an active, functional part of your horse's musculoskeletal system.
Most hoof protection systems, however, treat it exactly like that: as if protection and fixation were the same thing.
We see things differently. Not on principle, but because we understand the function of the hoof and measure what good hoof protection must achieve against that. The hoof should be allowed to move. That is our benchmark.
How we think
Our stance.
01
Expertise before opinion.
Our stance comes from understanding the mechanics, load and function of the hoof.
What we say, we can explain – and where something has its limits, we name them just as clearly.
02
Depth over breadth.
We focus intensely on one topic: the hoof, its function, its requirements, its behaviour under load, and its role within the horse as a whole. Our expertise emerges from focus and from years of consistent engagement with exactly this topic.
03
Partner of the craft.
Suitable hoof protection requires a skilled hand. That hand belongs to experienced professionals - not us.
We deliver the right systems; the rest is done by those who work on hooves every day.
Where we come from
For a craft that does not stand still.
In 2016, our founders Bennet and Simon asked themselves a simple question: why has hoof protection barely changed for decades - although we already know and can do much more?
Both come from product development. They understand how systems work, where they reach their limits - and how to make them better.
And they had horse people in their environment who confirmed exactly that: hoof protection has to be better.
Goodsmith grew out of that.
The name comes from "Blacksmith" – the smith. "Good" is not a counter-design to the existing, but a direction: a craft that keeps evolving.
And from this, everything we work on at Goodsmith every day continues to emerge.
Our team
The people behind Goodsmith
Behind Goodsmith are people who aren't satisfied with quick answers.
We want to understand how the hoof works – and what it really needs.
Bennet Klein
Founder & CEO
Bennet founded Goodsmith from a simple but decisive question: why has the development of hoof protection stood almost still for decades? Today he sets the strategic direction and pushes the team to the next stage of development. And when it counts, he stands at the horse himself to test solutions where they matter: in practice.
Simon Salowsky
Founder & CTO
Simon founded Goodsmith because he is convinced that hoof protection can fundamentally do more. He thinks in terms of materials and mechanics to create solutions that are brilliant in theory and truly work on the hoof. His standard? A system that doesn't restrict the hoof, but supports it – and enables healthy movement.
Narin Sido
Chief Operating Officer
Horses aren't a hobby for Narin – they have been the common thread running through her life since the age of four. At Goodsmith, she creates the conditions for the team to focus fully on innovation and keeps together what belongs together: people, processes and the shared direction. Her goal? To change outdated structures and improve the equine world sustainably.
Alisa Bader
Social Media Operations
Alisa brings our vision to your screen - from the first idea to the finished post. At home in dressage herself, she knows that fine details and precise aids are what matter. She brings exactly this precision to our content: a post must not only look good to her, but also convey real knowledge. She makes sure that Goodsmith stays visible where the community exchanges ideas.
Michelle Jahr
Brand & Marketing Operations
Michelle ensures that Goodsmith presents a clear face to the outside world – from the campaign down to the smallest detail in communications. At home in gaited horse sports, she knows that hoof protection has to be absolutely reliable. She makes sure that our outward image is just as precise as the technology behind it. For her, a brand must deliver what it promises: maximum performance in every beat.
Eva Schroder
Customer Relations
Eva is the first point of contact for our customers and partners. At home in western riding, she combines logic and focus: staying calm when things get tricky and finding the direct route to a solution. She listens before she answers - because she knows that every case in the stable has its own dynamics. Eva carries this practical feedback straight back to the team and makes sure that our development always lands exactly where it's needed.
Where we are going
What we develop today should be self-evident tomorrow.
Healthy movement at the hoof is no vision for us.
It is the professional benchmark.
We develop solutions that are aligned exactly to this - not to habits, not to compromises, not to what "has always been done that way".
Change doesn't happen all at once.
It happens in the daily work.
In development.
In application.
In exchange with those who work on the hoof every day.
That's exactly where we start.
