Klebebeschlag

Unrestricted in driving sport thanks to Goodsmith

Gentilini is a 17-year-old Trakehner gelding who has been moving irregularly for several years. The problem was a gradual process related to iron shoeing over the years, which apparently went unnoticed and uncorrected by our farrier. A skilled hoof orthopaedist helped us out of the mess. Gentilini had severe heel contraction with underrun heels at the front and suffered from constant thrush which, during the switch to Goodsmith, also turned into canker. The course really was textbook.

The hoof care professional pulled his shoes a year ago and did a proper orthopaedic barefoot trim. Since Gentilini competes in international driving sport, a longer break at his age would likely have ended his sporting career. So she recommended the Goodsmith Klebebeschlag , because it comes closest to barefoot. The relief of the hoof capsule through proper trimming was immediately noticeable, so the long-standing thrush, which had not gone away despite the best hygienic care, stopped at once. We limited the glue-on intervals to 5 weeks and always rasped the hoof very thoroughly.

After about 2 months canker developed on the frog of all four hooves, which with perfect hygienic care, trimming and the Goodsmith was completely healed and grown out after 4 months. We were initially a bit sceptical whether the Goodsmith would withstand the enormous training loads and the wild galloping on the large pastures. But this scepticism vanished after the very first interval. Genti runs better than ever and since he is only used in dressage driving we do not need studs at all. Now, despite the rehabilitation of his contracted hooves , he can continue training and being presented at tournaments, and his hooves are visibly becoming healthier. We are pleased about the new grey straps – the hoof care professional once did not have any and used the old orange straps, where Genti lost the rear glue-ons in the second week at gallop on the meadow. So thanks to constant development things keep getting better!

We sometimes use the Goodsmith on all 4 hooves, but in between also only on the front. Gentilini had underrun and far too narrow heels with frog contraction.

Gentilini runs better than ever and can train without restrictions for international driving sport.

With the new grey straps the Goodsmith even last longer for us than iron shoes. We are so glad and grateful for these glue-ons!
