Walking more pain-free – thanks to Goodsmith!

2 Min. Lesezeit

I have already been using Goodsmith on my riding horse and have had very good experiences with it, especially regarding its shock-absorbing effect.

For my companion/retirement horse, which suffers badly from bone spavin, I have now decided to also apply Goodsmith. He comes along on walks with us, either as a hand horse or doing health-maintaining groundwork. He spends most of his time in the paddock.

Until now he was barefoot and wore hoof boots for terrain work. The horses are kept in an open stable during the day and in a box at night. The open stable has paved sections, sand, and in rainy weather some muddy areas, otherwise firm ground. For 9 out of 12 months they also have access to a large meadow.

Since my main concern was the hind legs, I had the glue-on shoes applied to all four hooves. He generally has very regular, well-shaped hooves, but on the front left there is a misalignment with the hoof twisted inward.

Already during the first application of the glue-on shoes on the hind hooves, a clear difference was noticeable. He started chewing and was suddenly able to lift the other hind leg in a relaxed manner and hold it up for a long time. His protective posture had already noticeably diminished right after the application.

Out on the trail he is now more alert, more attentive, and simply more pain-free. As a hand horse he now comes along in a relaxed way at a normal pace, and at the canter I have to be careful he doesn't run off from us. Even cantering on the lunge is possible again, and playing with his paddock friends is more exuberant once more.

Many thanks to Goodsmith for this purely plastic-based, completely individually customizable hoof protection.
