How Do I Choose the Right Size?
Updated on 10/13/2026
In short
On the freshly trimmed hoof, measure the widest point and the length from the toe edge to the heel corner and enter both into the size finder on the base plate's product page. If in doubt, we recommend the next larger size, as the base plate can be ground down.

The right size depends on three factors:
- hoof width
- hoof length
- hoof shape
How to measure correctly:
- The hoof should be freshly and properly trimmed.
- Measure the widest point of the hoof (width).
- Then measure the length from the toe edge to the rearmost weight-bearing point (heel angle).
Use the size finder in the shop
Then use our size finder, which you'll find on the product page for our base plate. There you enter the hoof length and hoof width and get a size recommendation for that specific product.
If in doubt, we recommend the next size up, since the base plate can be individually fitted and ground down smaller.
