Can I Re-weld a Single Tab?
Updated on 10/13/2026
In short
Yes, you can re-weld a single tab as long as the shoe has not yet been glued to the hoof, and it works just like with a complete tab chain. Once the shoe is on the hoof, individual tabs can no longer be corrected.

Yes – re-welding a single tab is possible, as long as the shoe has not yet been glued to the hoof.
Typical situations:
- During assembly, a tab accidentally melted too much or tore off
- A single tab is damaged and needs to be replaced
- The hoof size requires an additional tab
Welding on a single tab works the same way as welding on a complete chain of tabs. You can find the instructions here: “At what temperature do I weld the Goodsmith tabs onto the base plate?”
Important: Re-welding is only possible before gluing onto the hoof. Once the shoe is fitted on the hoof, subsequent correction of individual tabs is no longer possible.
