How Is the XT Filler Used with the Goodsmith Glue-on horseshoe?

Updated on 10/13/2026

In short

The tabs are sealed thinly all around the outside with XT-40 instant glue, and while the glue is still fresh, the XT-Filler is sprinkled on. This creates a firm, closed edge that makes it much harder for grass, dirt and moisture to get in.

XT Filler is a fine-crystalline, silicate-based granulate used in the Goodsmith system mainly to seal gaps and edges when gluing the Perma XT tabs. Combined with XT-40 cyanoacrylate glue, it creates a clean, continuous seal.

This gives long grass or dirt significantly less chance of catching on edges or getting into gaps.

XT Filler for sealing gaps on Perma XT tabs

  1. Seal the tabs all the way around with XT cyanoacrylate glue
The outer edge of the tabs is thinly sealed all the way around with XT-40 cyanoacrylate glue.
  2. Sprinkle on the XT Filler
While the glue is still wet, XT Filler is sprinkled onto it.
  3. A continuous, firm bond forms
The combination of glue and granulate creates a firm bond all the way around that:

    • seals open edges
    • significantly reduces the ingress of grass, dirt, and moisture

This means the XT Filler above all provides a clean, sealed edge around the Perma XT tabs, increasing the everyday durability of the glue-on horseshoe.
