The pastern strap on the Goodsmith hoof boot is an optional add-on element that provides more stability and hold.

Using the pastern strap is especially useful:

  • for larger or more powerful horses
  • for horses with a very active or expansive gait
  • if you generally want more security and control of the hoof boot

The pastern strap helps to additionally secure the hoof boot around the pastern area and can thereby reduce the boot slipping or being lost under more demanding conditions. You can use it or leave it off, depending on the horse, the activity, and your personal sense of security.
